How it works

You get 10 elements one at a time and four group numbers to choose from. The answer appears straight away, and your best score is saved on this device. Lanthanides and actinides are left out because they have no group number.

Play it three ways: a classic round of 10 questions, a 60-second speed round (25 right answers earns a star), or survival, where you keep going until you miss three.

Tips

  • Groups 1 and 2 are on the left, groups 13 to 18 on the right, and the transition metals fill groups 3 to 12.
  • For a main-group element the group tells you its valence electrons: group 13 has 3, group 17 has 7.
  • Noble gases are always in group 18 and halogens in group 17.
