States of matter quiz: solid, liquid or gas?
At room temperature (25 °C) most elements are solids, eleven are gases and only two are liquids. Can you tell which is which?

How it works
For each of 10 elements, choose solid, liquid or gas at 25 °C. You see the right answer immediately, and your best score is kept on this device. Elements whose state has never been measured are left out.
Play it three ways: a classic round of 10 questions, a 60-second speed round (25 right answers earns a star), or survival, where you keep going until you miss three.
Tips
- Only mercury and bromine are liquids at room temperature.
- The gases are hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, chlorine and the six noble gases from helium to radon.
- Every other element that has been measured is a solid, including all the other metals.
