Valence electrons quiz
Valence electrons decide how an element bonds. See a main-group element and pick how many valence electrons it has.

How it works
You get 10 main-group elements (groups 1, 2 and 13–18) and four numbers to choose from, with the answer shown after each one. Pick easy, medium or hard to change the range of elements; your best score is saved on this device.
Play it three ways: a classic round of 10 questions, a 60-second speed round (25 right answers earns a star), or survival, where you keep going until you miss three.
Tips
- In groups 1 and 2, the number of valence electrons equals the group number.
- In groups 13 to 18, subtract 10 from the group number: group 16 elements have 6.
- Helium is the exception in group 18: it has only 2 valence electrons.
